Canadian act Skagos continue to create a unique sound within the genre. Two 10 minute + tracks from them here. Anamnesis II: A Dry, Sterile Thunder, Without Rain has some excellent surprises that work extremely well and show they are truly something apart from acts like Wolves in the Throne Room.

Panopticon's anarchist twist on the genre is present here as well, three tracks which will most likely appear on his next album. All circling around 8 minutes each and full of excellent, memorable riffs, samples and vocals. In 320.

Rogue Sounds - Transmission [2010/320]

I was actually asked directly by the band to post this on here, and thus here it is. I have listened to it myself and it is a very solid record. In fact, it's one of my favourite EP's this year. It might be interesting to know, the album was produced by Ed Brooks, who has worked with Russian Circles and Fall of Troy, previously. I definitely recommend this to Post-Rock/Post-Metal fans.

Canada definitely knows death metal and the first full length from these three guys is damn impressive, carrying that tradition on effortlessly. A primarily orthodox death metal sound/structure and hints of technicality (at points similar to Immolation, Cryptopsy or Ulcerate). It's a fucking mammoth, well written chunk of dark and twisted death clearly created by guys who can play the fuck out of their instruments. Every riff is blazing fast and incredibly addictive, so much so you'll surely run through this three times in a row without difficulty (I know I did). 

There have been complaints about the snare drum being too high in the mix and these are justified, so if you'd rather have the remastered version (thanks to this fine gentleman). Outside of that minor gripe these brutal Canadians are doing it right, along side bands like Mitochondrion, Ignivomous, Vasaeleth, Funebrarum, Denial, etc.

The lady Stevie (who also did the cover art) on guitar playing through two huge bass stacks and Rob on drums and synth. Heavy, simple doomy riffs with a deep growl.
